Madonna

In my last post I mentioned a planned photo-shoot, so here is the story. My friend contacted me because he wanted to enter a Smirnoff competition to go and see Madonna in Paris as a result of her newly released album MDNA. The aim of the competition was to create a Madonna inspired image, and my friend is Madonna mad! So he planned to recreate her 'I am Breathless' album cover. He organised the entire shoot... Rented the car, got the outfits and chose the models (himself as Dick Tracy and a friend), all I had to do was the lighting, take the photographs and edit the chosen image. The graphics were then put on by Jerri (the girl in the image) to recreate the album cover:

The image we were re-creating:

Our re-created Image, we chose our final image for the album cover re-creation as it best reflected the original work.:

Another photograph from the shoot which I really liked:

Instant Newton

I am beginning to venture my interests further into instant photography as a result of my infatuation with film photography. I have been meaning to buy a Polaroid for some time now, and after writing this post and looking at these images I think I might just order do so straight away. Photographers often use the form of instant photography to test their shoots. The one off prints that develop in a matter of seconds from the click of the shutter allow photographers to preview a shoot before capturing final images.

Helmut Newton has been for some time and I'm sure will remain one of my most adored practitioning photographers. Newtons book 'Polaroids' is a collection of his Polaroid test shots and after looking at these wonderful photographs, as well as purchasing my own Polaroid camera; I think I'll also buy the book.

Agnes-Cecile

These are some amazing pieces from artist, Agnes-Cecile. In these examples she utilises watercolour in a unique and mythical way combined with her own methods to create this wonderful works. Why not check out more of her work on tumblr and deviantART.

This video shows the artist in action, through a speed version of herself painting musicians 'The Green Children'. Music is the bands song 'Skies on Fire'. It is fascinating just to watch her technique and approach.
